MCP Core vs addons: how the licence model actually works
Core, entitlements, and what happens when an addon licence lapses. No surprises, no hidden blocking.
The Core + addon model
Every licence starts with Core: the MCP protocol server, auth layer, and licence client. Addons like Missive, Database, and WooCommerce are bought separately and unlock as entitlements on the same licence key.
Entitlements explained
Your licence key carries a list of entitlements (core, tool:missive, and so on). The MCP server only registers tools you actually hold an entitlement for — everything else stays invisible.
What happens when an addon licence lapses
The affected tool disappears from the entitlements list on the next licence check (at most 72 hours, plus a 96-hour grace period on top). No new download is needed — the same installation just stops loading that tool.
