How to connect Claude to your WooCommerce store

A walkthrough of setting up the WooCommerce addon: API keys, read-only mode, and your first query.

Prerequisites

An active MCP Core licence with the WooCommerce entitlement, and admin access to the WooCommerce store you want to connect.

Getting your API keys

WooCommerce REST API keys are generated from WooCommerce → Settings → Advanced → REST API. Create a new key scoped to Read or Read/Write, depending on the mode below.

Consumer key & secret

Copy both values into your .env file as WOOCOMMERCE_CONSUMER_KEY and WOOCOMMERCE_CONSUMER_SECRET. These are only shown once by WooCommerce, so store them somewhere safe.

Configuring read-only mode

The WooCommerce tool defaults to read-only. Set WOOCOMMERCE_MODE=read-write explicitly if you want Claude to be able to create or update orders and products.
